Welcome to the schedule for Katsucon 19 in 2013!
Katsucon is an annual 3-day fan convention held in the D.C. metro area for multicultural enthusiasts and entertainment. Katsucon is produced by Katsucon Entertainment, Inc. (KEI), a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization dedicated to bringing information about Japanese animation, society, and traditional and popular culture to fans everywhere.
If you like anime there might be a live action for you! Come learn about some of the vast live actions shows that were made from some of the popular anime and manga such as GTO, Hana Yori Dango, Ouran High School Host Club, Rurouni Kenshin, and more. After the presentation there will be a discussion on the different live actions.
Want a way to further emerge yourself into the Asian cultures then come learn about their Dramas aka their TV Shows. Here we'll talk about shows from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Learn the actors, the history, what shows have been done in more than one country and become a more well rounded fan of Asia.
Have your eyes set on a handsome South Korean star? Have your eyes set on many? Come ride the Korean Wave as we discuss your favorite K-Pop stars and decide upon who reigns supreme as the true K-Pop Husbands!
From Number Girl to Masu Dore, from Asian Kung-Fu Generation to Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, Japan's independent music underground has produced some of the greatest bands the world has ever seen. Join us as we discuss these bands and others, and of course play some fantastic music!

Ever wondered what it's like to Live The Dream of selling your art at a convention? There's a whole lot more to it than just sitting behind your table and showing off your work! Two members of the Hooked on Chibis! staff are here to expose the secrets of what it's like to actually run a table - the difference between an 8-hour day and a 12-hour day, 4 feet of space or 6 feet, etc. They'll also regale you with their stories, drawn from over 30 conventions, and answer your questions.

Ever wanted to play the voice of your favorite anime character? Now's your chance! Join veteran voice actor Crispin Freeman in a dubbing workshop where you get to learn how to voice act in anime! Volunteers will be able to try their hand at voice acting to picture using the same equipment the studios use! Crispin will personally direct the participants in the workshop, revealing to both them and the audience the techniques he's developed over 14 years in voice acting. Learn how to sound like you mean it when putting your voice into a character that's already been animated.
To combat Earth's mightiest villains, the webcomics artists here at Katsucon have banded together. However, due to Earth's badly polluted atmosphere, their powers can only sustain them for sixty minutes, Go, webcomic artists! Fight in the name of love and justice!
O, the artist, and Dern, the writer, live in different countries, but are able to communicate and collaborate on what it takes to make a comic. Writers and artists looking for partners are encouraged to attend, and writers: prepare your elevator pitch.
Sometime you take a bit out of the Con, sometimes the Con takes a bite out of you. Share in the humor when you see just how wrong things can go. May involve tales of alcohol, street explosions and alcohol fueled street explosions.
Are you a lover of shojo or josei manga? Do you wonder why the female heroines of these manga are presented in the way they are? Come discuss these stereotypes in relation to gender issues in Japan with examples from series such as Kare Kano, Ouran High School Host Club, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Princess Tutu, Happy Mari, Love So Life and Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun.

Long ago, Nickelodeon showed good 90's shows and cartoons in harmony. Then, everything changed when Big Time Rush, iCarly, and the wannabe cartoons attacked. Only the Avatar: The Last Airbender could stop them, but when we needed it most, reruns of the show vanished. Time passed, and we discovered a new Avatar named Korra… and although we have only seen trailers and pencil tests, I believe that Korra can save Nickelodeon.
