Welcome to the schedule for Katsucon 19 in 2013!
Katsucon is an annual 3-day fan convention held in the D.C. metro area for multicultural enthusiasts and entertainment. Katsucon is produced by Katsucon Entertainment, Inc. (KEI), a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization dedicated to bringing information about Japanese animation, society, and traditional and popular culture to fans everywhere.
Have you ever wanted to be one of your favorite pokemon or non-human characters? Not sure if you can gijinka 'that thing'? Bring it forward! A gathering of minds can always help awaken everyones creativity. Please join three talented gijinka cosplayers in this panel where we will be walking you through the process of creating your perfect gijinka costume, from concept sketch to finishing that last stitch. Wearing a gijinka cosplay to this panel is encouraged, either for critique or simply just to show off what you've got!
Do you have an interest in traveling to Japan? Are you crazy about Tokyo (even though you've probably never been)? Are you just simply fascinated by Japanese culture? If so, then you'll enjoy hearing about my lessons learned as I traveled to Japan via Tokyo, Yokohama and Kyoto. I'll share funny (and scary) stories about my journey, tons of travel tips, the do's and dont's of Japanese culture, awesome neighborhoods in Tokyo, Japanese cuisine, and more.

A how-to guide on wearing more revealing costumes. This panel covers costume structure, types of double sided tape, the way you carry yourself, undergarments and tricks of the trade. Additionally, this panel also covers how to react to inappropriate comments, creepers/photographers and uncomfortable situations. Photographers can also attend since there is a small section on how to approach cosplayers and react to them. Q&A at the end!

Postmodernism is a literary movement present throughout the contemporary culture of the day. It is a driving factor in literature, art, philosophy, and society. In this respect, current anime has several postmodern tendencies that ultimately drive character development and work to construct the individual worlds presented. The foundational question of postmodernism focuses on the nature of reality and how we, as individuals, construct our own interpretation of reality. In this panel we will be identifying the postmodern construction of Jinsei Kataoka’s written work along with Kazuma Kondou’s illustrations within the world of Deadman Wonderland.
Anime Music Videos provide plenty of entertainment, but most of all, it gets people aware of some of the best anime series that you might have missed the first time around. In this panel, AMV editor Jeremy Soria ("Brakus Media") shares several videos that have inspired enough people to buy the anime featured in the video. Get ready to check out some all time favorites and a few unexpected titles.
It seems that fans of the Dragon Ball series have made AMVs to this anime since the beginning of time, and who can blame them? Dragon Ball has endured since 1986 since the original anime series all the way through to Dragon Ball Kai.
